
Under a new agreement passengers in north west Victoria can now travel on Overland train services at standard V/Line fares.
Under this six month trial, 12 economy class seats will be available on each Overland service between Melbourne and Adelaide for Victorian passengers wanting to travel to destinations between Nhill and Melbourne inclusive.
Passengers can buy tickets from V/Line and fares are equivalent to other sections of the V/Line network.
Overland services operate three times weekly in both directions, with additional services during seasonal peaks and for special events.
Pensioner and seniors free travel vouchers can be used on this service when travelling between Nhill and Melbourne.
A number of towns will benefit from improved connections and flexibility including Nhill, Dimboola, Horsham, Ararat and North Shore Geelong.
Tickets for travel on Overland services between Nhill and Melbourne are available from V/Line agents or by calling 136 196. Passengers should note tickets are not available to buy on-board the train.
Reservations are compulsory and all tickets must be paid and collected at least 48 hours in advance.
Customers wishing to purchase First Class tickets or purchase tickets within 48 hours of departure must book tickets through Great Southern Rail (GSR) directly and tickets will be charged at GSR rates.
